Tobermory 20 Year Old Refill Hogshead
After extensive sampling from the Claxton’s tasting panel, we’re incredibly pleased to announce the first release in The Single Cask range – an Island whisky distilled at Tobermory distillery (founded in 1798) on the Isle of Mull, a distillery also famous for its peated whisky Ledaig. Tobermory is the unpeated malt produced at the distillery which has been growing in both renown and popularity in recent years.
Matured in a refill hogshead for 20 years, this single cask whisky has wonderful balance of cask influence and original spirit character for its age. The refill hogshead made from American oak has subtly influenced it with a zesty character. Adding a good drop of water really opens up this lively malt.
Nose: Cracked black pepper, mash with notes of pink grapefruit emerging.
Taste: Wonderfully lively malt. Citrus zest, more black pepper, wisps of bonfire smoke and golden syrup.
Finish: Long and mouth coating. Black pepper gives way to a tingle of Chilli powder with a lasting sweetness.Back to News
